System Engineering

Life Safety and Security System Design: From Start to Finish

Once Innovative has been engaged to engineer your life safety systems, we work thoroughly to understand the needs of your project. We will design systems and create permit drawings (as required) for approval by the local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), ensure your plans are code compliant with national and local codes, and turn over shop drawings for your construction team to use as a guide.

We offer onsite consultation management and serve as a resource to your construction team as the system is being built. Upon the completion of the installation, systems will be programmed as needed, commissioned for start-up, your staff fully trained to operate, and tested for occupancy with the local AHJ.

Following the turnover of the system, Innovative offers ongoing maintenance and service for optimal performance. This allows for an additional layer of security for your building to ensure seamless transitions for property managers and facilities staff.

Compliance And Codes

At Innovative, we pride ourselves on fluency in national and local codes and will keep you well-informed as to what is needed for code compliance at your property.

We have a full AutoCAD/Fire CAD design department with NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certified staff.

Our design team ensures that your system complies with standards from:

  •  National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

  • International Building Code (IBC), National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

We review and incorporate local standards as we anticipate that every municipality is different and may enforce variations of NFPA guidelines or specific local building codes (e.g. Chicago Building Code).

Why should contractors work with us?

We have been in your shoes. Our staff has extensive field experience and will work with you each step of the way to understand your needs and complete your project on time, on scope, and within budget. Our subject matter expertise adds to our design ability as we can anticipate questions and create higher-quality designs from the beginning.

As a building/property owner, it is critical to engage a life safety system design company that will anticipate everything your systems need for compliance and will work with your building and electrical contractors, engineering, and building design teams to help mitigate surprise costs mid-project.
